Debugging makes this appear to be a different problem from what I thought
(namely, it would appear that the problem lies rather with \once\override
not being able to properly revert). It's conceivable that the problem is a
duplicate of an existing issue, but it would probably take more debugging
to say definitely than it would be to keep issue independent and only merge
them when a fix appears to change both...
