There is not enough information in the commit message. This patch is
moderately big (over 300 changed lines), so it needs some
introduction/background info in the commit message to allow an effective
review.
Also, there was a long discussion about the patch, so it would be good to
mention the conclusions of this discussion in the commit message as well.
