The current patch is, by the way, the same as the one from comment 13,
rebased so that it applies to current master.
The extension of "Meno mosso" into the next bar was solved in the example
input,
by adding a blank mark \mark\markup\vspace #1 at the relevant bar-line,
which works if we use defaults that let LilyPond space tempo and rehearsal
marks.
