It is probably a bit sobering that for accessing escape width font metrics,
LilyPond defines a virtual function Font_metric::get_indexed_wxwy. It
never gets used, and the actual font classes never bother to override it,
either.
When giving stencils _real_ escape widths, one should probably fill in
those missing pieces and initialize the character stencil escape widths
straight from the font. That would make so much more sense...
