implies that users accept how ragged-bottom pages currently behave ---
except of course that the last page should allow compression by default
when the earlier pages are best-fit.
So, a patch to change only the behavior of ragged-last-bottom, with docs
update:

Regression tests show some "compressing music to fit" messages replaced by
one that includes the relevant page number, if there is a page number to
report.
