Regarding comment #15: changes in the outputs or warnings, as contrasted to
hard failures, have to be found and judged by visual inspection of the
differences. I am pretty sure that we used to have "warnings-as-errors"
set at some point of time: maybe something is broken here regarding Patchy.
At any rate, I diagnosed this from output rather than a hard crash.
There are other warnings that skipTypesetting manages to avoid when
resynchronizing, I think. Not sure, though. At the very least, an
expect-warning might be needed.
