I can reproduce the report with 2.16.2 but not with current master, even
when stoking up on the tightness of the material (the first repeat unfold
will go to 10 and produce really tight spacing but still not showing the
issue).
It would be nice if someone reported whether the problem is reprodicible in
2.18.
