OK, I misunderstood. Yes, trying to do everything in PS might be
interesting. Unfortunately, neither xetex, luatex, or pdftex produce DVI
that can be processed by dvips, IIRC. In other words, all enhancements
provided by those programs are not available. This might be good enough
for the lilypond documentation pipeline, but it is not sufficient for the
general case.
