I think in its current reduced form it can just go into staging without
formality. Trivial and uncontentious. I'm scratching my head over the
other part: I just don't like "silence a warning" patches: can we declare
the respective variable to have a large enough data type that the warning
goes away? Or do we get too many other followup problems then?
