I don't know how common notation goes, but I consider it very strange
that the default behaviour of lilypond is that on the middle line,
beamless stems go down, but beams go up.
Nor does the version checking work correctly - i.e. this program should
not compile on uu2 but it does:
\version "1.4.8.uu3"
\score { \notes
{
b'8 b' b'4 b' b'16 b' b' b'
}
}
