is the lilypond-book in the cvs supposed to work? When I run it on the
file input/lilbook.tex I get:

I'm using SuSE Linux 7.3 which comes with python 2.1.1 and gcc 2.95.3.
By the way, is there a standard test file for lilypond-book that covers all
or most of its features?
