That was a clear example. In order to put your proposition to words, one
could state that the (Left and Right) ends of the slur could go sligtly
inside the rectangular bounding box around the note head:
Instead of having the slur ends outside the bounding box:

one could put them slightly lower and inside the bounding box
(here exaggerated):

I think that the current engraving engine tries to avoid collision between
the slur and the note head. However, the lowering (or raising) slighly the
slur end points might work.
