I have no experience with drum notation, but this may be of interest to somebody else
on lilypond-devel, so I'll send it there.

Hi,

I write to you because I do not subscribe to lilypond-devel and I see that you replied on one of the posts.

I've read the post:

I agree with the posters that Lilypond needs just a little extra features to be fully usable for percussion notation.

My personal problem is flams, drags, ruffs and rolls. However, the notation used in most Danish marching bands is a bit different from the one referenced in the above posts.

To describe it shortly we use:

Flams: single 8th gracenote with a stroke. With or without a tie. Like:

flam = \drums {
   \override Stem #'stroke-style = #"grace" \grace sn8
}

Rolls: Three strokes across the stem, like a tremolo. Preferable thinner strokes and _not_ alligned with any beams.

Ruffs: Ditto... but only two strokes.

The biggest problem with the current implementation is that tremolo strokes are alligned to the beam of an 8th note, which makes a ruff look very wrong when applied to a beamed note.

I hope this can be of use for the developers.
