Best solution: use a text editor that saves text files using Latin1
character encoding (also called ISO 8859-1 encoding) and just type
in the letters directly, instead of using the LaTeX commands.

Hi list,

using LilyPond 2.4.2

In lyrics, when typesetting \ae and \oe, which translates to only one
character, it seems that it is aligned as if it was two characters (some
leading space between the next syllable)

thanks for any insights,

also, please reply to me too, since I'm not in the list.
