Workaround: \override HorizontalBracket #'edge-height = #'(-1 . -1)
However, I have fixed the bug in CVS. I also added a setting of the staff-padding property by default, so the brackets don't end up inside the stave.

Title says it all, really. How do I position a HorizontalBracket above the staff instead of below?
sorry, i think i may have got it wrong -- the direction should be set to #1 rather than #-1 to place the bracket above the staff.
Thanks, that partially works. So does \override Staff.HorizontalBracket #'direction = #UP
The bracket shows up above the notes, but like \____/ instead of /^^^\. I'm using latest CVS, updated a few minutes ago.
bye John
