Regarding funding LilyPond and Han-Wen's work on it, it might be
nice for lilypond.org to have a webpage or link to a webpage
(maybe at LSD) on which are listed all the current new feature,
enhanced functionality and bug-fix requests, so that potential
sponsors could review them and see which ones they might
personally wish to help sponsor.
I was thinking in terms of a webpage something like a "bug
tracker" webpage on other sites: an interactive page where
LilyPond users could utilize the page's HTML forms and text input
fields, supported by a database backend, to add "Sponsorship
Requests" which describe the feature request or bug-fix desired,
place their name and the amount they are willing to contribute to
the sponsorship at the beginning of a list, where others could
add their names and pledge amounts to the list as well.
In this imaginary scenario, there might also be a section for
Han-Wen's comments, when he happens to review the page, about the
feasibility of implementing such a request, perhaps a couple
radio buttons for "Yes, I'm willing to do it" or "No, I don't
believe that is a good idea right now," and a price quote from
Han-Wen for sponsors to meet, if he believes it is a good and
worthy feature.
--this idea is just a flight of fancy, so to speak. ;-) I just
thought it would be nice if everyone could see, and perhaps add
to, the pending feature requests and sponsorship tickets, so they
would know what is going on and what they might want to help
support if they are interested.
