I'm attaching the one I wrote on Feb. 24; it's a Debian Sid system.
The problem seems to still be there with this morning's CVS.

That makes the postscript file smaller; the pdf file is still several
times larger than the postscript file, but smaller than it is without
that option:

After -dgs-font-load
