Has someone already considered adding footnotes to lilypond? This is
perhaps the most important non-musical typesetting issue needed,
something which can't be handled by lilypond-book.
Looking into various scores, the used mechanism is quite simple: A
grob is marked with a symbol (something like `1)', `*', etc.), and the
footnotes are collected as usual on the same page. I've never seen
the case that footnotes are enumarated piece-wise; it's always
page-wise, I think.
