Since I implemented figured bass conversion in musicxml2ly tonight, I created
a test file with a figured bass in parentheses. They show up just fine in the
PDF and the EPS output, but in the PNG output the square brackets are
missing.
As an example, see the musicxml test file 18a-FiguredBass.xml in
input/regression/musicxml. The lilypond code of the conversion is:
PartPOneVoiceOneFiguredBass = \figuremode {
<3>8 s8 <1+ 3- 5!>8. <[6]>16 <5/ 127/>4 }
In PDF, the <[6]> really appears as [6], but in PNG it displays only 6 without
brackets:
