Yes, I've fixed it in git.
The problem is that the
@documentencoding UTF-8
was after the @settitle. As a result, the @settitle was not yet interpreted as 
UTF-8, but rather latin1 encoding, although it was using UTF-8 encoding 
(using two bytes for the accented characters).

Moving the @documentencoding to the very top of the file fixes the problem. 
I've pushed a corresponding fix.
