Hi John,

Ahem *cough* GNU Make 3.81 (which I have on my GNU/Linux system) was
released in 2006. I guess we should then require this version for
building LilyPond, shouldn't we?

You're kidding, right?
A 0.01 version difference is stopping me from being able to turn my [huge, but quickly waning] enthusiasm for Lilypond into useable and useful docs and bugfixes??

To paraphrase Graham, what the mao-ing mao?

Okay, so now (after yet another app upgrade/install),

  make --v

gives

    GNU Make 3.81

    PARTICULAR PURPOSE.
    This program built for i386-apple-darwin8.11.1

And trying to make install lilypond [according to the online v2.13 docs] errors out with

chmod 755 out/install-info-html
true
make[2]: Leaving directory `/Users/kmac/Documents/03_personal/music/ Lilypond/lilydev/scripts/build' make[1]: Leaving directory `/Users/kmac/Documents/03_personal/music/ Lilypond/lilydev/scripts' make[1]: Entering directory `/Users/kmac/Documents/03_personal/music/ Lilypond/lilydev/flower'
