I'd say it's expected behaviour, since turning off the shift in any of the voices means there are at least two clashing columns with the same shift (hence why you're getting the warning). Once this occurs, no effort is made to resolve any collisions automatically. You should use 'force-hshift if you want precise control over positioning.
