really?  I tried it a couple of times, and it worked for me.

ctrl-v is not expected to work in the terminal; we think it should
be shift-ctrl-v.

Yes, version 2.1 has such a pdf and a link to the online docs
within the VM.  Perhaps I should add a warning against trying to
copy&paste from host to guest OS, and encourage people to do all
their copy&pasting inside the guest ?
