Personally, I find it strange that we don't have things like \- and \_ be assignable as music functions, namely "-" = #(define-music-function ... For plain |, we use pipeSymbol, but it would make more sense if this were "\\|" = #... even though it would be a bit strange to define the thing to be called without backslash by defining it with backslash (the usual manner is the other way round). But I have not been able to think of something better yet. Anyway, defining the same command to do things analogously but differently all the same in lyrics mode and markup strings...
