Subject: Variations on the theme "The remote end hung up unexpectedly"
Hey all,
I've been getting the following message for current master for a day-ish
now:
ssh: Could not resolve hostname git.sv.gnu.org: Name or service not known
fatal: The remote end hung up unexpectedly
For reference, the clue to this one is in the first line: "Could not resolve
hostname git.sv.gnu.org". ssh is trying to resolve the git.sv.gnu.org
hostname into an IP address and failing. It means there's something
fundamentally wrong with the network on your computer - either DNS is
screwed or you've no external network access. I'd expect browsing and email
to fail, too. I know it's now fixed, but if you do see the "Could not
resolve" message, suspect your network, not git.
