Phil, don't you update the PO files as part of a release anyway? Does

As part of the build process, I do this:
make -C $LILYPOND_BUILD_DIR po-replace
mv $LILYPOND_BUILD_DIR/po/lilypond.pot po/
TBH I have no idea what that actually does...
