Current developers using LilyDev can update this way:
1. Add this line to /etc/apt/sources.list:
deb http://httpredir.debian.org/debian testing main
2. Add the file /etc/apt/preferences with the following content:
Package: texinfo
Pin: release a=testing
Pin-Priority: 900
3. Install the new version with:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get -t testing install texinfo
Folks, LilyDev is mainly intended for those developers who are not
native/regular GNU/Linux users. Having them pin packages and add
non-standard sources is a great idea for getting their systems into a
state from which they cannot recover themselves and which nobody else
can diagnose without an account.
It's a standard source.
New developers will use the new ISO and don't have to bother with these
instructions. Current developers can easily apply these changes to
their current LilyDev.
Pinning may be problematic if enabled for all packages, but this is
applied to a single package. I don't think that it's going to cause
troubles.
Let's just not rush requiring new Texinfo features.
