Hello,
Below, I forward details of MIDI SysEx registration held by the FSF for
GNU LilyPond. Thank you Karlin High for working on this and for
generously covering the cost.
The FSF is happy to hold the registration and thanks Karlin for
explaining how that would help implement ideas discussed at
<https://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/lilypond-user/2025-11/msg00000.html>
and <https://gitlab.com/lilypond/lilypond/-/merge_requests/2790>.
And thank you all for working on free software!
The number came from the MIDI Association with a reminder that it "is
non-transferable and is only for use in your products". We at the FSF's
Licensing and Compliance Lab will do our best to help if there is any
need to clarify how users can continue to use GNU LilyPond (modified or
not) in freedom, while not disturbing how it uses the MIDI SysEx. I am
happy to work on this with you as well as with the MIDI Association if
necessary.
