At least for transfering money from the US to Europe (from private to
private account, as 'friends and family') it is *much* cheaper with
PayPal than a bank transfer. The former costs 5USD maximum, a bank
transfer costs 40USD and up.
However, if your UK bank supports SEPA, you can transfer money free of
charge to other SEPA countries like Germany (at least I assume you are
in the UK based on your e-mail address).
