Hi LilyPond Community, A few days ago, I received an email from MakeMusic announcing that they would end technical support for Finale on August 25. It made me realize that it has been one year since I decided to switch to LilyPond, shortly after the news broke that Finale would be sunset.
This is just a small note to thank everyone active on the listserv, as well as the many others who have made incredible LilyPond resources available online. I have learned so much from all of you, and continue to do so. An editor at my publisher recently remarked that a piece I typeset in LilyPond looks indistinguishable from scores I created with Finale. This shows how powerful LilyPond truly is, and I know it is thanks to the tireless work of developers over the years. My thanks also go to the developers of Frescobaldi, as well as OpenMusic, where exporting musical data into the LilyPond environment has never been easier---something that has greatly aided my compositional process. A year ago, I was unsure what to do, but now I can say with confidence that I made a choice I do not regret. With gratitude, Yoshi
