I have no knowledge whatsoever regarding Synth V. However I regularly create practice tracks for NY choirs. I use timidity to render the midi files. The process is completely automated. On Linux this is trivial and I also got it working on Windows. I'm sure it would work on Mac as well but I haven't tried.
