Thanks for that! I actually use Emacs to begin a LilyPond job and then
switch to Frescobaldi.

But … see below.

Note that I’m running Linux; if you’re using some other OS, this may not be
useful.

I was able to get the lilypond-mode.el file to the right place and compile
it, using the result of this Google search:

But when I loaded a LilyPond file in emacs, I got the message:

Debugger entered--Lisp error: (error "Autoloading file
/home/<name>/.emacs.d/site-lisp/lilypond-mode.elc failed to define function
LilyPond-mode")

The .el file has 54 instances of “LilyPond” and 345 instances of
“lilypond,” so I assume the problem is in there somewhere.

I’ll look through lilypond-mode.el and see if I can find a clue – but I’ve
only written the simplest .el files, so it may take a while.
