Hi,
New, untested, LilyPond binaries for Microsoft Windows are now
available, installable using
http://lilypond.org/cygwin/setup.exe
This time, you may really have to download the new setup.exe. You
should be offered to upgrade to lilypond-1.4.14.jcn3, automagically.
If you want to install the new documentation package, you may have to
select it explicitly from the 'Select packages' dialogue.
To install the development version, in the 'Select packages' dialogue,
select Exp(erimental) packages. In section 'Publishing',
lilypond-1.5.62.jcn1 should automatically be selected.
The past week, we've been plagued by nasty memory corruption problems;
these releases are mainly made available because one subtle bug has
been hunted down and fixed. You may just have some more luck with
these new packages.
HOWEVER, there are still known problems with these packages, esp. for
large scores (notably, Ouverture Coriolan).
It seems that on GNU/Linux, these memory corruption problems can be
avoided by using a version of Guile that has not been configured to
use threads (ie: ./configure --without-threads). We hope to find the
real cause of these problems, though.
There's a new stable version
http://lilypond.org/cygwin/tar/lilypond/lilypond-1.4.14.jcn3-1.tar.bz2
and a new development version
http://lilypond.org/cygwin/tar/lilypond/lilypond-1.5.62.jcn1-1.tar.bz2
Also included are two corresponding documentation packages
http://lilypond.org/cygwin/tar/lilypond/lilypond-doc/lilypond-doc-1.4.14.jcn3-1.tar.bz2
http://lilypond.org/cygwin/tar/lilypond/lilypond-doc/lilypond-doc-1.5.62.jcn1-1.tar.bz2
Note that LilyPond is now installed under the normal /usr prefix, as
was pre-announced in
http://mail.gnu.org/pipermail/lilypond-devel/2002-June/001042.html.
Greetings,
Jan.
