The syntax is correct, but the file location isn't.  You either have
to put the lilypond-profile into your $HOME or tell your shell where
to find it.  It might be a good thing to ask for an existing readable
file, something like

LP=/path/to/lilypond-profile
if [ -r $LP ]; then
  . $LP
else
  echo "Can't source $LP, file not found"
fi
