When I compile this

with lilypond I get a nice PDF (evince screenshot attached) but when I
use
lilypond -dbackend=svg junk.ly
or
lilypond -dbackend=svg junk.ly
then I see the text badly rendered (inkscape screenshot attached).
I don't know anything about the font issue, but I would expect the collision
to be:
