Good point. It could still be done right now, using existing features, right? For example (warning: untested thought-experiment!), by pushing the #’eccentricity of the left Slur to some large positive number and that of the right Slur to some large [absolute value] negative number, and compressing the “join segment" of each Slur (by conflating its control points appropriately), the two sandwiches could be mashed together into a single reasonable-looking submarine. =) But there’s no question that it would all be easier done with more robust tools.
