As Urs wrote you’re halfway there, and there’s one even better solution
than those he gave: polyphony within one ‘Voice’. For this, just omit
the line with ‘\\’ from your above example (NB. this only works if the
Voice has been explicitly created). Then you’ll have no problem to
terminate the crescendo later, no matter if outside the <<>> or inside.
