Thanks Abraham, I was missing a line of code that caused the error and not the
parser since I fixed this a while ago.

Looks like all you need to do is remove the "parser" argument from the line:
#(ly:parser-set-note-names parser pitchnames)
so that you get
#(ly:parser-set-note-names pitchnames)
