Hi Mike, id
will tell you who you are presently. The $ and # prompt conventions are just that, but they are universally accepted conventions. It would be highly unusual for a UNIX system to be set up for a normal user prompt to be #. That in itself is indicative of the possibility that your Hostmonster system is administered in an unusual, and non conventional manner - never a good sign. Do let us know the linux system type. I was unable to find it on the Hostmonster website - which is also strange. Andrew On 5 June 2016 at 6:55:29 PM, Mike ([email protected]) wrote: Uhm... it's just a convention isn't it? I'm pretty sure I am not a superuser. How can I verify it?
