yes - I suspect that the font package is installed incorrectly.
over here I have
byrd:~/usr/src/lilypond$ kpsewhich ecrm10.pfa
/usr/share/texmf/fonts/type1/public/ec-fonts-mftraced/ecrm10.pfa
what does kpsewhich say?
