I should add that I want to do this all programatically. I tried using /rest but that does not change the beam position and then the beam collides with the rest.
Another thought I had was to try to write a function that automatically sets the beam position since that is relative to the staff, but I would need to know which direction the stems are going. Is it possible to get that value so I can set the beam position negative or positive based on the direction of the stem?
