This is a constant struggle in musical theatre scores, where quite often 
vocal/choral parts — especially homophonic sections — will [necessarily] be put 
on a single staff, but the intended voicing isn’t made clear. As a 
composer/engraver, I always strive to make it clear (e.g., "SATB (TB 8ba)" or 
"unison" or "octaves" etc.), but I'm definitely an exception.
