Hi Andrew, I don't run Arch, but rather Ubuntu, so I can't offer a great deal of help. Can you run this with plain lilypond, not lyp, to test?
And how about 2.19.80, a bit more advanced than 2.19.18? Excellent as Arch may be, I abandoned it (twice!) after getting into the inevitable dependency hell that Arch produces after some time dealing with the rolling release model. To be fair, others have success, but this error looks like a dependency mismatch to me.
