You need to play with alignment-offsets then.
I see. I'll take a look at those values and try to get a shift to apply...
Other options are: add an invisible markup with sufficient padding to force the
staves apart; tweak the padding or extra-spacing-height (etc.) on an existing
grob to force the staves apart.
Considering how rare it is that I need to manually pad out a staff in a
system (in isolation from the entire piece), I think this may just be
good enough and the easiest way to move forward in this situation. Thank
you for all your help everyone!
