I assume that you are referring to discussions on my behalf. I'll look ASAP 
what the resulting code base looks like, and maybe there's sonething in it for 
general harvesting.

I agree that this should absolutely go not into openLilyLib but into LilyPond. 
This is a core unctionality, IMO.

However, I recall that someone (I think David Nalesnik) contiued somewhat after 
I closed my project, I think resulting in an engraver or spanner (I think I 
ended up with spmething like a stencil override),

PS in my collected function is also code to center arbitrary markup (e.g. clefs 
or time signatures within measures.
