I am sure. If it's not considered an abuse, I think I could post my .png version of the snippet.
It sounds very strange. I just tried the same example with an old version 2.2 that I happened to have installed and it works there as well. I can't imagine anything that has happened from version 2.4.2 to 2.4.5 that should break your example. You could send me a private email with a copy of your .ly file and the corresponding .pdf output if you wish.
