Is there a simple way to move the instrument / voice location?

Again, a newbie question. The score I'm transcribing has

SOPRANO.
Allegro energico.

above the start of the piece.

I sort of achieved the effect badly by doing:

        \tempo \markup {
          \left-column {
            "SOPRANO."
            \italic "Allegro energico."
          }
        } 4 = 140

But I'm guessing there's a much better way... hopefully without creating a
whole new style or whatever.
