This is what I do with the software I normally use. It's called drumburp and it generates drum tabs. It has a separate row for each instrument and then I add the note to the correct row. I have to first set the subdivisions for the bar. What I don't like about drumburp is that there is a lot of mouse clicking. I would rather type using lilypond notation for note values and rests. Or some text notation that could then be translated to lilypond. Or use midi as an intermediary file and parse it with different note groups as voices. I think those are the only options.
