I don’t believe that to be true! Here are two classic counterexamples:


1. When dealing with eighth notes, I regularly have to

    \omit Flag
    \omit Stem
    \omit Beam
    etc.

In certain situations, other mechanisms are more appropriate (e.g., using 
quarter notes and changing duration-log), but sometimes it’s just easier to 
\hide or \omit everything but the noteheads in a sequence of eighth notes.


2. Tuplets have two components (TupletNumber and TupletBracket). I can’t tell 
you the number of times I’ve written

    \omit TupletNumber
    \omit TupletBracket

and sim.
