I just tried this example. It does work well, though I'm seeing a few limitations, and I'm not sure if I'm just using it incorrectly or this is just a limitation of this method.
From what I gathered you can only have 7 different pitches in this example, and those are pitches with specific registers as well. Meaning that if you want to for example create an arpeggio that runs through the whole keyboard you would run out of arguments. Is this correct or am I missing something in the snippet?

As has already been mentioned, with some programming competence, you can extend that solution. An alternative could be to use https://wiki.lilypond.community/wiki/A_function_to_repeatedly_print_a_given_pattern_with_different_notes
